As well as site flipping, my Mum also does a lot of niche blogging and we’ve been doing some research and I’m going to give it a go.  Blogging can’t be that hard right, I mean I’m doing it right now with this blog.

Anyway, with niche blogging, you need to choose a good niche (topic) and start a blog about it.  Mum has been showing me all this stuff about keyword research because you can’t just choose any old name for your blog, it is best to choose your blog name based on the keywords for your blog.

She helped me do all this research to find a good keyword phrase (group of words) relating to the topic that I want to blog about.  It’s not just about finding a group of words though, she actually goes through and finds out how many people are searching for that group of words on Google and also how much competition there is on Google for that group of words.

So the trick is to find a keyword phrase that has a lot of Google searches per day but that doesn’t have too much competition.  That isn’t always easy to do and it can take a long time sometimes before you find a good phrase that meets that criteria.

If you don’t do the keyword research then you could base your blog around keywords that just have way too much competition and then since there is so much competition no-one will ever see your blog – it will be hidden way back hundreds of pages down in Google.

I know I probably just made something as easy as blogging sound difficult or confusing, but once you know how to do the keyword research then it isn’t that hard and it really is very important if you want to get a blog seen by lots of people.

So, now I have my topic and I have my keyword phrase and I have bought a domain name for my blog which cost me $8.99US for the name.  Mum is hosting the blog on her hosting account so it isn’t costing me anything for hosting.

I’m not going to give out the link to my blog just yet as I don’t want heaps of people to start a blog on the same topic or the same keywords.  It took us quite a while to find such a good keyword phrase so I want to keep it to myself for a while.

I will let you know how it goes though and if it makes me any money.  So, once again wish me luck!
